Richard Muzechuk

I received my BFA from The Columbus College of Art in Design with concentration of study in fine art oil painting, life charcoal drawing, and advertising design. The intention of my art is to be a reflection of the joy and beauty of humanity, life and nature.

My work has been greatly influenced by my backpacking excursion through Central and South America (1994-1995), and the countless amazing people and the wonders of the world I encountered along the journey. To make oil painting and traveling feasible, I designed a backpack friendly folding easel, which could accommodate 2 wet oil paintings at any time. With this mobility, I really enjoyed experimenting with different painting styles, allowing myself to be influenced by the various cultures and surroundings I encountered.

In 2018, I had the honor of being approached by Kelly Callahan, The Director of the Trachoma Control Program with The Carter Center, with a request to create a painting commemorating 2 decades of the program’s work. I will never forget this rewarding experience and all that I learned through the entire process.

Title: “Seeing a Vibrant Future.” 2018 (10” x 8” oil on canvas - pictured)

“To commemorate its two decades of work, the program commissioned a painting, titled “Seeing a Vibrant Future.” The painting, by U.S. artist Richard Muzechuk, portrays layers of healthy eyes from a variety of cultures, representing our shared humanity and the idea of seeing ourselves through others’ eyes—working together toward “a vibrant future in a world free of trachoma.”
